What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a simple procedure utilizing the physics of increased pressure and the movement of gases to assist in developing an ideal environment for healing, detoxification, rest and relaxation. Small increases in pressure have shown tremendous effects on human physiology when paired with breathing increased oxygen levels.
Many athletes use HBOT to gain an athletic advantage both pre and post competition. More oxygen to the tissues equals better performance. It’s also used for enhance recovery time from training thus helping to prevent chronic over training injuries. Research has proven that hyperbaric therapy increases collagen synthesis in tendons as well as reducing stress and accelerating recovery from acute injuries. This therapy is in compliance with the International Olympic Committee and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
